To me, success is graduating high school and following the artistic path I have always wanted to take. I plan to finish my last year and get into a good college so I can focus on working on my art. Art is something I am very passionate about, and I do mostly black and white pieces, but also landscapes, and even cartoons. I am many things, but I would describe myself as smart, artistic, and funny.
One of the biggest misconception about foster children are that foster parents are only in it for the money, or that the children will be in the foster care system forever once they reach a certain age. However, that is not how it is. All a foster child wants is a parent who is going to care for them and tell them that everything is going to be alright. A foster family wants child to be able to give all of their love to. I know that is what I want. Those at Holy Cross have been helping me through my struggles and making me feel more accepted. The brother and dad advocate help me with this by talking to me and seeing how I am doing or if I need help with anything.
It has been about 4 years since I have been in foster care. I have been at Holy Cross for 8.5 months now and it has been up and down for me. However, Holy Cross has helped me feel like I belong and really do try to help every child find their place. A lot of the staff have made a huge impact on my life, and have truly made the quality of my life that much better.
